Today, members of the Troy Fire Department Explorer Program got hands-on experience learning about vehicle extrication!
Vehicle extrication is the process of safely removing a person who is trapped in a vehicle or other confined space and unable to exit on their own. This specialized rescue operation requires training, teamwork, and the use of hydraulic rescue tools to free victims while minimizing further injury.
Our Explorers learned about the equipment, safety procedures, and techniques firefighters use during these complex incidents. Programs like this provide young men and women with a firsthand look at the fire service while developing leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
The Troy Fire Department Explorer Program continues to prepare the next generation of firefighters and public safety professionals through hands-on training and real-world learning opportunities.
