Department of Public Safety at Rensselaer Dept. of Public Safety, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute We provide for the safety and well being of our students, faculty, staff and visitors.

The Department of Public Safety provides assistance to the campus community seven days a week, three-hundred sixty-five days a year. Thru comprehensive techniques of law enforcement, criminal investigations, building security services, and several other methods of crime prevention, and related education, we strive to make Rensselaer a better and safer place in order to pursue one's own achievem

ents. Community Policing & Outreach Programs: Provides safety and crime prevention programs, thru out the year. These programs include Defensive Driving, RAD, CPR, Fire Safety, Drug & Alcohol awareness, and student orientation. We also provide communications with the campus environment thru Facebook, Concerto, and our website. Our next Defensive Driving Class has been scheduled for Saturday, January 23, 2016. This six-hour National Safety Council course will reduce up to 4 points on your safety record of your license, and save you 10% reduction on your insurance. The course fee is $30, payable the date of the class or by registering during business hours during the day, at RPI Public Safety. The class location will be on campus in the JEC building, room 3117. Any questions please contact [email protected] or call 518 276-8527. This class is open to all interested!!

Public Safety will sponsor a certified 6-hour Defensive Driving Course, on Saturday, 10/31/15 starting at 9 AM, in room 3117 of the JEC building. This course will sharpen your safe driving skills and reduce the chance of a collision or getting a traffic ticket. Cost is $30 if you pre-register. This course certification is good for three years, and will save 10% on the auto insurance policy, and reduce up to four points on ones driver safety record. Public Safety will sponsor a National Safety Council certified CPR and First Aid Course, this Thursday 9/24 at 4 pm - Folsom Library conference room. No pre registration necessary, just come in! Cost is $35 per student. Questions please contact [email protected] or call 518 276-8527
