Good news FlashFiber customers!

📺 YouTube TV Buffering Update

For those of you who have experienced buffering issues while watching YouTube TV, we wanted to share a quick update.

The YouTube TV caching server we requested from Google has arrived and was installed on the FlashFiber network this week. While it's still early, we're already seeing a significant amount of traffic flowing through the server, and it's doing exactly what it's designed to do — storing popular YouTube TV content locally so it can be delivered to customers faster and more efficiently.

We're continuing to closely monitor performance, but the early signs are encouraging, and the server appears to be working as intended.

We'll share another update soon as we gather more data and see how it performs over time.

JWEMC Youth Tour delegates Alyssa Duke, Payton Foster, Laura Mize, Amidy Wilder, and Lila Mae Witt have spent the week in Washington, D.C., exploring our nation’s capital, learning about leadership and public service, meeting elected officials, and experiencing firsthand how our government works.

We are proud of these outstanding students and grateful for the opportunity to help provide experiences, networking opportunities, knowledge, and resources that will help them write a story only they can tell! 🇺🇸

All Joe Wheeler EMC offices will be closed tomorrow, Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth. Crews remain on call should outages occur. We will resume normal business hours on Monday, June 22, from 7:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.

Yesterday, crews were dispatched to Highway 20 in Trinity due to an outage affecting 41 meters. Upon arrival, it was determined that a tractor bush-hogging in the area clipped a guy wire, causing a utility pole to snap. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Safety is our top priority at JWEMC, and we want to remind members to always maintain a safe distance from electrical infrastructure.

According to data from the National Institutes of Health, electrical incidents result in approximately 1,000 fatalities and 30,000 injuries in the United States each year.

📍 Friday, June 12: 7:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M.

Update: Restoration efforts wrapped up this morning at 4:00 am. We appreciate your patience and support!⚡

Update 1:30 am: there are now 315 members out at this time. Crews are still working to replace two broken poles on Powell Rd SW in Hartselle. A large tree had to be cleared in order for them to get started. They have replaced the poles and are putting the lines back up now. Crews are also assessing the situation on Old Hwy 31 where a tree had knocked the lines down into Flint Creek -which is almost overflowing (see image). We will keep updating as they work to get everyone back on.

At this time, we have 950 members without power. Most of these are in the Falkville are but there are still some ongoing outages in other areas of Morgan County. Crews are working the outages and will have power back on as quickly as is safely possible. You can see our live outage map at JWEMC.coop.
