Today we celebrate a true legend — a man who has dedicated 47 extraordinary years to serving others as a volunteer and professional firefighter.
From joining the Caddo-Midway Volunteer Fire & Rescue at just 19 years old in 1979, to serving as Decatur Fire Chief, Fire Marshal, and now Fire Chief of Caddo-Midway Fire & Rescue District, your life has been a powerful example of quiet strength, humility, and unwavering commitment.
As you’ve said, “I just feel like I should give something back.” That simple mindset has touched thousands of lives through countless emergency calls, life-saving rescues, and quiet moments of mentorship. Your calm presence in their darkest moments — remind us all what real heroism looks like. Whether in uniform or on the phone coordinating help, you’ve always been there.
Chief Clark, thank you for your 47 years of service, your military dedication, your mentorship, and for living the belief that “just helping people” is the highest calling. May your birthday be filled with joy, peace, good health, and the deep satisfaction of knowing how many lives you’ve changed for the better.

We’ve been training for years to be ready whenever this community needs us—day or night, rain or shine. ⛈🌝☀

But right now, we’re facing a critical challenge: *we cannot respond effectively if our equipment is down.*

One of our engines urgently needs *$6,000 in repairs* just to stay in service. With rising fuel costs and the high price of keeping our gear reliable, it’s becoming harder every day to guarantee we can answer the call when someone in our community dials 911.

Volunteer fire departments like ours are the backbone of small communities across the country, but many are struggling as volunteer numbers drop and costs continue to climb.
