Last night at the monthly city council meeting, the city staff and council presented the two ceremonial flags that flew at the entrances to Treynor for our 250th U.S. anniversary in June and July. The flags were taken down and given to Mick and Judy Guttau as gifts for their continued incredible work in 2026 in Treynor. Mick's work with veterans, the Wall that Heals display held in May, and community service are inspirational. Judy has been instrumental working with Treynor's Tomorrow, mural work, and many other civic activities, including the Treynor Optimists. The other flag was given to council person David Waymire for his willingness to step forward with his fireworks team to bring a professional fireworks program to Treynor for everyone to enjoy. He went above the normal call for a council person and showed his commitment to our community. Thank you for all you do!

On Sunday, September 6th, the Treynor Parks & Trails held their grand opening for the three recreational areas that have been working on for years. Tristan's Trail showed off the ninja course and the trailhead while the inclusive playground and splash pad also were able to shine. It was a wonderful day to celebrate partnerships with many people. This also wraps up the DESTINATION IOWA grant that provided Treynor Parks & Trails, City of Treynor, and Vision Treynor Group $800,000 towards this more than $2.5 million dollar investment to the community. Congrats to the families of the board members Wendy Andersen, Brooke Curtiss, and Lisa White, who gave of their time and love to see this dream come true. This area was always meant to be inclusive and there were those who came and enjoyed being a part of the fun.

We have been asked to remind anyone from the area that is a budding entrepreneur that the REV competition hosted by our very own TS Bank is just around the corner. Treynor has been highly successful in launching several new businesses in the past five years and they have fared well in the REV competition. This event will only make you better and stronger as a business. Applications are due Thursday, September 10th!
