We know that spring is here and everyone wants to clean up old vegetation but please don't burn during red flag warnings like today.

🚨 RED FLAG WARNING TODAY IN IOWA 🚨

Critical fire danger is expected from 1–10 PM across central into western Iowa. Warm temperatures, very dry air (humidity near 15%), and gusty southwest winds will make it easy for fires to start and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged — even a small spark could lead to a fast-moving fire. Please use caution today.

Remember that we had several big announcements coming? Here is the next big announcement! A special thank you to the Gary Sinise Foundation! We applied for a grant through their foundation and was award $67,410 to purchase a new Styker electric/hydraulic cot and power load system for our new ambulance. This new cot and power load system will reduce lifting stress and injuries from our volunteer firefighters. Did you know that the average back injury cost including lost work time is roughly $36,000. The most common injury for EMS personnel is sprains and strains which lifting injuries fall into this category. We are super excited to add this to our equipment capabilities and look forward to reducing wear and tear that happens to our dedicated volunteers. Thank you Gary Sinise Foundation!

Your Treynor Firefighters spent the day expanding their skill set. With assistance from the Iowa Fire Service Training Bureau through the Volunteer Firefighter Training Fund, we were able to get live hands-on training on rescuing individuals from entrapment in a grain bin. Being a small rural community in a large agricultural area, this was a very important update of our skills. The training was instructed by Professional Rescue Innovations. A big thank you to Iowa Fire Service Training Bureau, PRI, Rich Andersen and Kurtis Strobehn.

A big day for Bexton and Merrick as they road to school in style with our fire truck! The ride was auctioned off as a part of the fundraiser for the athletic boosters.
