25 YEARS LATER — WE STILL REMEMBER.

September 11, 2001 was a day that changed America forever.

For the fire service, the number 343 is more than a number. It represents 343 firefighters who answered the call that morning, climbed the stairs while thousands were coming down, and never returned home.

They didn’t know how the day would end. They only knew someone needed them.

Alongside them were law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, members of our military, ordinary citizens, and countless others who showed extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable tragedy. Nearly 3,000 innocent lives were taken that day, and many more first responders and survivors have since lost their lives or continue to suffer from illnesses connected to Ground Zero.

Twenty-five years have passed. A generation has grown up knowing September 11th only through photographs, videos, stories, and the names etched into memorials.

That makes our responsibility even greater.

Tell their stories.
Speak their names.
Teach the next generation.
Remember the sacrifice.

At Trevorton Fire Company, we honor those who ran toward danger when everyone else was trying to escape. Every time we answer the alarm, climb aboard the apparatus, put on our gear, and serve our neighbors, we carry forward the same promise that has always defined the fire service:

When someone needs help, we go.

Today we remember the lives lost.

We remember the families who never got to say goodbye.

We remember the firefighters who climbed.

We remember the police officers, EMS personnel, military members, dispatchers, and civilians who answered the call.

We remember those who became sick in the years that followed.

And we remember what our country looked like on September 12th — neighbors helping neighbors, strangers standing together, and an entire nation united.

September 11, 2001 — Never Forgotten.
343 — Never Forgotten.
Nearly 3,000 lives — Never Forgotten.

May we never forget the day.

May we never forget the sacrifice.

And may we always remember why we serve.

🇺🇸 WE WILL NEVER FORGET. 🇺🇸

On this day... 25 years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning tomorrow. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift of saving lives. None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.💔
Never forget.🇱🇷🦅
