Last week, Acting State Comptroller Shirley U. Emehelu and members of OSC staff met with NJ Elder Ombudsman Laurie Brewer and members of NJ Nursing Home Residents United nursing home residents to hear firsthand about the issues they are facing, and to discuss the importance of financial transparency in long‑term care.
OSC’s mission is to ensure public dollars are used responsibly. Clear, accurate financial reporting helps improve oversight, strengthen accountability, and give residents, families, employees, and taxpayers confidence in how resources are being used.
We appreciate the dedication of nursing home staff and understand how transparency can help support better working conditions, appropriate staffing, and improved care for residents.
