Today we honor the working people of Mercer County and the contributions they make to our communities every day.

We also recognize the generations of workers who fought for workplace safety, fair wages, the forty-hour work week, protections against discrimination and the right to organize. That work continues today, and we thank the labor unions and organizers across New Jersey who continue advocating for fairness and dignity for all workers.

Wishing everyone who lives and works in Mercer County a safe and happy Labor Day!

September is , an opportunity to recognize the impact of food insecurity in our community. More than 1 in 10 Mercer County residents face food insecurity, forcing them to navigate impossible trade-offs between food and other crucial needs like medicine, childcare, or electricity. Federal cuts to Medicaid and food assistance are only increasing these challenges.

Through the Mercer County Office of Food Security, we're working to address hunger by investing directly in organizations that serve our residents in need. That includes our Mercer Healthy Food Purchasing Grant program, which is supporting local food pantries and community organizations to purchase fresh food. Each week we've been highlighting one of the organizations benefitting from the grant and the important work they're doing in our communities.

If you, a loved one, or a neighbor are in need of food assistance, the Mercer County Free Food Finder is a great tool to locate nearby food pantries, meal sites, and food distribution programs based on location, day, and time. Just go to: tinyurl.com/mercerfreefoodfinder
