I was proud to join residents from throughout Mercer County for our annual Flag Retirement Ceremony, where worn American flags were retired with the dignity and respect they deserve. Witnessing our community come together to honor Old Glory reminded all of us that the flag represents far more than fabric—it represents generation upon generation of sacrifices made in service to our nation

My thanks to our Division of Veterans Affairs, veterans organizations, volunteers, first responders, and everyone who helped carry on this important tradition.

NEWS ALERT: Today Mercer County Executive Dan Benson delivered his 2026 State of the County Address at a gathering hosted by the Princeton Mercer Regional Chamber. Speaking before a crowd of over 200, Benson reflected on the County’s historic progress over the past two and a half years and detailed many of the investments, projects, and partnerships that are helping move Mercer forward.

The County Executive discussed a range of topics including steps to strengthen the County's finances, upgrades to public safety, new infrastructure projects, economic development initiatives, and ongoing investments to revitalize the City of Trenton.

"Rising costs and uncertainty at the Federal level continue to create real challenges for working families and local governments alike," Benson said. "But I believe people want leaders who are willing to roll up their sleeves, focus on results, and keep moving forward. That's what we've tried to do, and that's exactly what we'll continue to do. Because when I look at Mercer County today, I don't just see challenges. I see opportunity. I see momentum. I see communities that are coming together to build something really special. And that's why I'm optimistic about our future."
