Gibson County Library to Receive Renovation Grant
February 18, 2026 -
Gibson County, Tennessee -

The Gibson County Government is proud to announce that it has been awarded a $486,000 grant from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, to fund extensive interior and exterior renovations of the Gibson County Memorial Library. This project seeks to update the building through replacing windows, paneling, floors and light fixtures.
The renovations of the 5000 square foot building are set to be completed by the end of 2026, and are phase one of the larger plan for library improvement. The Gibson County Memorial Library Foundation is working to raise funds for a 7000 square foot addition to the north end of the building, which will include private study rooms, and a 58-chair community meeting space.
During construction the library will experience disruptions in service, but staff will make a concerted effort to make sure patrons are able to get what they need. Regular updates regarding the project’s progress and service adjustments will be available on the library’s website www.gcmlibrary.org and its social media pages.
The Gibson County Library, currently under the administration of Sarah Martin, MSIS, was established in 1932 and has been in its current building since 1968. The library houses approximately 22,000 volumes and offers free and low-cost programs and services to all who reside, work, or attend school in Gibson County.
