We are pleased to share that Chief Fedorczyk has been selected to participate in a panel discussion alongside state park law enforcement leaders from across the country at the upcoming National Association of State Park Directors (NASPD) Conference, being held September 14–18, 2026, in New Orleans, Louisiana.

NASPD brings together state park leaders from all 50 states and U.S. territories to strengthen and support America’s state park systems. The organization promotes collaboration, professional development, the exchange of best practices, and the advancement of state parks and their contributions to our nation’s environment, heritage, health, and economy.

The panel will provide an opportunity to share experiences, exchange best practices, and discuss emerging issues facing park law enforcement, including public safety and the protection of the natural, historic, and cultural resources entrusted to our care.

The New Jersey State Park Police is proud to have Chief Fedorczyk represent our agency and the State of New Jersey on the national stage, demonstrating our continued commitment to public safety, resource protection, and the preservation of New Jersey’s treasured State Parks, Forests & Historic Sites for future generations.

ABOUT NATIONAL NIGHT OUT 🚔
National Night Out, also known as America’s Night Out Against Crime, began in 1984 as an initiative to help communities and police come together to fight crime in their neighborhoods. The New Jersey State Park Police has hosted the Department of Environmental Protection's National Night Out event for the past three years.

As part of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s Youth Inclusion Initiative, young people from overburdened communities have the opportunity meet with staff to learn about careers with the New Jersey Forest Fire Service and the New Jersey State Park Police.

Last week, participants visited the Forest Fire Service’s Coyle Field Air Attack Base in Burlington County to explore careers as a Section Forest Firewarden, Forest Fire Equipment Mechanic, Forest Fire Pilot, Division Forest Firewarden, State Park Police Officer and K-9 Officer.

Participants learned about the specialized equipment used to fight wildland fires and observed how prescribed fire is implemented. They also watched a demonstration of State Park Police K-9 Jetty, a trailing bloodhound trained to track and locate missing and wanted individuals.

Over the course of six weeks, more than 100 participants, ages 16 to 20 from overburdened communities in New Jersey, are working alongside Department of Environmental Protection staff to discover the many pathways into environmental careers while developing skills for the future. Today, the members of the New Jersey State Park Police stand shoulder to shoulder with our brothers and sisters of the Boston Fire Department Rescue Company 2 as we honor the life, sacrifice, and legacy of Robert “BK” Kilduff.

BK was the embodiment of service — a Marine, a firefighter, a father, and a leader whose courage defined what it means to answer the call without hesitation. A third-generation firefighter and proud member of Rescue Company 2, he dedicated his life to protecting others.

His sacrifice in the line of duty is a solemn reminder of the risks first responders face every day in service to their communities. Yet even in tragedy, BK’s legacy shines through in the countless lives he saved, the firefighters he mentored, and the example he set for all who wear the uniform.

From the New Jersey’s State Parks, Forests, and Historic Sites to the streets of Boston, the bond of public safety and brotherhood remains unbroken. We mourn alongside Rescue Company 2 and the entire Boston Fire Department family, and we honor BK not only for how he died, but for how he lived — with courage, humility, humor, and an unwavering commitment to others.

Rest easy, Brother Kilduff. Your watch is complete.

The New Jersey State Park Police is proud of the quick thinking and bravery of our officers during yesterday’s rescue in Wharton State Forest! Thank you to all of our mutual aid partner agencies for your hard work and rapid response. We are glad to share this successful ending.

A group of kayakers, including 10 juveniles, was rescued Saturday after becoming stranded by obstructions along the Batsto River in Wharton State Forest, according to state officials.

Meet Jeanne, Officer Somers and Officer Todaro, or as Jeanne lovingly calls them, her “earth angels.”

One year ago today, April 13, 2025, Jeanne experienced a medical emergency in the campgrounds at Spruce Run. In a moment that would change everything, Officer Todaro, alongside Officer Somers, sprang into action and performed CPR. Because of their quick response, skill, and unwavering commitment, Jeanne is here today.

The balloon Jeanne is holding carries a message that says it all, “Happy Birthday.” It was brought to her by Officer Todaro during her recovery, a heartfelt reminder of what he humbly calls her “new birthday.”

This photo captures more than a reunion, it captures compassion, courage, and the profound impact of public service. We are deeply grateful to our New Jersey State Park Police officers for their dedication, professionalism, and the care they show to every visitor, every day.
