David Howe’s idea of corperate responsibility is placing management’s abuse infront of the dignity of new employees
David Howe, son of the late amazing community leader, Stephen Wellington Howe, is the owner and head abuser and exploiter at the Talaria Company LLC in Trenton, Maine, better known as Hinckley Yachts. Amazing how far an apple can fall from the tree, shows how wealth and ego can destroy the founding principles a parent attempts to impart with their children. David, just because you have money and probably even donate some to your favorite charities, of which you, your friends, and cronies are board members, no matter how much you and you company donate, it pales in comparison to the damage to the community that your company’s treatment of employees does. Perhaps you are too enclosed in your bubble to care, and that indifference, makes you directly responsible.
It has been two years since I chose to leave the toxic cesspool that is Hinckley Yachts Maine. Don’t get me wrong, there are many very skilled craftsmen who do amazing work, and keep their heads down and mouths shut, good people, who wish their place of work wasn’t so dysfunctional, and who put up with more than any human being should. They will never stand up for themselves and will continue to be treated any way management deems appropriate on any given day, and that might change based on how managers feel that moment or based on the ramming they got from Dean, Andy, or the other high ups. Which trickles down to lower level management. It is a vicious cycle and ALL administrators are to blame especially those at the reins for the last 5 years and others, who have up to this point, not stood up for the respect and dignity of each co-worker. It is collusion and the most undignified treatment of employees I have every personally experienced. The company has incredibly high turn over for this specific reason, employees are to be worked NOT heard. While management continues to support the destruction of the environment by excessive waste and the continual reluctance to recycle anything, except where required by law. The company is not only irresponsible, it sets a trend for other boat companies to follow. So sad for Maine. I originally began work there and dedicated myself for two years under the false assumption that it was a good company. I mean they pay OK for the area as a year round job, they offer crappy insurance, and unfair benefits that end up costing employees more in the long run. The company forces overtime for employees when they need it, and forces them NOT to work when they don’t, but at the same time is unwilling to be flexible, so that people can progress outside of the workplace. If you want to dedicate your life to a company who would throw you out on your ass, just because they decided they didn’t like you or you didn’t fit into the Good ‘ole boys Club @ Hinckley , than this is your place to be, if not steer clear at every cost. Life is better most anywhere else. If you, like me, at some point, worked for Hinckley Yachts in Maine or anywhere else, please feel free to give Mr Howe your impressions of your experience which will help protect current and future employees in Maine and around the world. You need to make changes Mr Howe, or take your emotional slave trade to another state. Most of us would prefer to be poor and dignified, than just getting by and being your administrative emotional punching bags. You should be ashamed, an your clients should know the real cost of their luxury toys on the honest, hard working, young skilled craftsmen and craftswomen, and how your irresponsible corporate policies negatively impact the families of your employees. But they are paid well, right? THAT DOESN’T GIVE YOU, OR MANAGEMENT, THE RIGHT TO ABUSE THEM, ESPECIALLY YOUNG EMERGING WORKERS. this is the reason for such high turn over, take note.
