It’s primary day in New Jersey – if you are 17 or older and turning 18 by the general election, you can perform your civic duty and cast your ballot.

To ensure all young people have this knowledge and the resources necessary to vote, a Senate committee yesterday approved a bill sponsored by Senators Raj Mukherji and Vin Gopal that would implement new curriculum into 12th grade Social Studies.

New Jersey has a housing crisis that isn’t going to solve itself.

This week we advanced legislation from aimed at removing zoning barriers to housing production and expanding our state’s housing supply.

* S-1786 would allow for the development of Accessory Dwelling Units on property zoned for single- or two-family residential use and establish a framework for municipal zoning ordinances
* S-1836 enhances the ability of religious and nonprofit organizations to convert certain property to inclusionary developments with affordable housing

These bills seek to unlock underutilized resources, reduce unnecessary zoning barriers, and enable a diverse range of partners, to help meet New Jersey's housing needs.
