The Gibson County Sheriff’s Department would like to thank Milan High School for allowing us the opportunity to speak with some of the juniors about criminal justice and the work we do each day as criminal investigators.

It is always a pleasure to share our experiences and give students a look into the responsibilities and realities of law enforcement. Thank you to the juniors for being so attentive, respectful, and for asking great questions. We truly enjoyed our time with you all!

We are proud to share a major accomplishment from our facility!

Through a pilot program offered by the State via the Orijin Tablet Program, inmates in our jail had the opportunity to participate in valuable workforce training. Gibson County was one of only eight counties in West Tennessee selected for this program—and we are proud to say these participants were among the first to successfully graduate.

This program was designed as a test to evaluate the need and effectiveness of providing educational and career-based opportunities to inmates. Participants earned certificates in several skilled trade and career pathways, including solar energy, IT workforce, construction, multi-family maintenance, electrical, and plumbing.

We would also like to thank Jason Klutts with Orijin for coming in and helping make this program possible.

Programs like this give individuals the tools they need to build a better future upon release, while also strengthening our communities through workforce development and reduced recidivism.

We are proud of the effort these individuals put in and the positive steps being taken toward rehabilitation and opportunity.
