Happy National Read a Book Day from Gilchrist County School District!📖✨

In honor of National Read a Book Day this coming Sunday, 9/6, today, we’re celebrating the power of stories, curiosity, and lifelong learning across all of our classrooms! From our youngest readers enjoying their first picture books to our high schoolers diving into the classics, seeing our students lost in a good book is one of the best parts of our day.

Reading isn't just a skill—it’s an adventure that opens doors to new worlds, sharpens young minds, and builds a foundation for future success.

FALLING INTO A GREAT SEPTEMBER! 🍎

Our cafeteria crews at every school have a fresh September menu ready to go, and the best part hasn't changed: breakfast AND lunch are still 100% FREE for every student, Pre-K through 12th grade, every single day, all year long. No forms, no fees, just come hungry!

Here's a taste of what's cooking this month:
🌟 PreK & Elementary: Chicken & Waffles, Walking Tacos, Mac & Cheese, and Mandarin Chicken
🌟 Middle & High: Walking Tacos with Doritos, Burrito Bar Day, BBQ Pork Plate, and a Baked Potato Bar

A few reminders for the month:
📌 Monday, September 7 is Labor Day, no school and no cafeteria service.
📌 Friday, September 11 is Grandparents Day at our elementary schools, we'd love to see grandparents stop by and join their student for a meal! It's also 9/11 Remembrance Day.

As our students head back to school, Sheriff Bobby Schultz and the Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office are proud to introduce the School Resource Officers serving our Gilchrist County schools this year!

Our SROs are more than a law enforcement presence on campus. They are there to protect, mentor, encourage, build relationships, and help provide a safe environment where our students can learn and grow.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, August 11, is the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL, and our cafeteria crew has been busy preparing to serve our students!

Here's the best part: breakfast AND lunch are 100% FREE for every single student (Pre-K all the way through 12th grade) every day, all year long. No forms, no fees, no excuses to skip the most important meals of the day!

So whether your little one is starting Pre-K, your kiddo is heading back to elementary school, or your teenager is walking into middle or high school tomorrow, one thing is the same for all of them: a hot breakfast and lunch waiting in the cafeteria, on the house.

Florida law requires all incoming 7th-grade students to have an updated Florida Certification of Immunization (Form DH680) BEFORE the first day of school.
