Part of the reason I ran for office is because I believe Downriver deserves public servants who will tell them the truth, not play to their fears and spread fake news.

So here are FACTS about the bipartisan Shutdown Prevention plan I voted for: 1) This is plan to keep our schools, emergency services and veterans homes open if Democrats try to shutdown the government later this year.
2) This INCREASES funding for our students by increasing the per-pupil allotment and restoring school safety funding that the Democrats cut from last year’s budget. Every School District in Downriver will get more money per-student than they got last year.
3) This is NOT our complete budget proposal. NO programs have been cut. Anyone telling you otherwise is lying to you.

It is clear that some Democrats want to just play resistance politics and threaten our schools and public safety to do so. My House Republican colleagues and I won’t let that happen and I will work every day to deliver for Downriver.

I was honored to have Ron Hinrichs, President & CEO of the Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber attend the State of the State as my floor guest. He and the Chamber do a great job advocating for businesses, big and small, across Downriver and I’m glad he was able to come to Lansing to hear more about how we’re working to make Michigan a great place to live, work, and own a business.

I also welcomed Kim Meeker, the Chief Nursing Officer and Henry Ford Health — Wyandotte to Lansing. Their dedicated team of doctors, nurses, administrators, and other support staff provide high-quality healthcare to people across Downriver.

We heard a lot from Governor Whitmer Wednesday night. I’m glad she mentioned education, government accountability, and fixing local roads, but now we need to make sure that the talk is backed up by action. The Republican Majority in the House is finding common sense solutions to these issues, like the bipartisan compromise on tipped wage and earned sick time.

Had the pleasure of attending two incredible events this past week.

1) Diamonds & Denim charity event in support of men’s health. Such a wonderful event and such an incredible cause. Thank you It's In Your Jeans - Downriver for your amazing work.

2) Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber - Downriver's Business Network hosted a legislative forum where I was able to meet many Downriver leaders and business owners as well as a group of students from Trenton High School. Big thank you to BASF for sponsoring this event.
