Check out 3rd Platoon from the 913th Engineer Company (Union City, TN), part of the 230th Engineer Battalion, in action during Annual Training! This year, they took on a community assistance project at Rutherford Elementary School in Rutherford, TN — demolishing and removing outdated equipment and constructing a brand-new playground for local students.

Though this mission doesn't mirror an exact combat environment, it’s packed with valuable training for our Soldiers. Our vertical construction platoon sharpened key skills in project management, logistics coordination, executing construction plans, surveying and design, concrete work, structural assembly, equipment operations, and more — all while giving back to our local community.

This project is a great example of how our Soldiers turn training into meaningful impact to our local communities.

1st Platoon of the 913th Engineer Company, out of Union City, TN — part of the 230th Engineer Battalion — recently completed drainage improvements at Ripley Middle School in Ripley, TN. This project was a highlight of our two-week Annual Training, combining hands-on, mission-focused construction training with meaningful support to our local community.

In these photos, Soldiers are operating heavy equipment including Hydraulic Excavators, Skid Steer Loaders, and Dump Trucks. With a horizontal construction mission, the platoon also trains on Dozers, Loaders, Scrapers, and Graders across a variety of engineering tasks.

This effort not only strengthens our technical skills, but also reflects our commitment to serving Tennessee — both at home and abroad.

3rd platoon from the 212th EN CO constructed a laydown yard for the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) in Tullahoma, TN this Annual Training. This consisted of the clearing and grubbing of top soil and installation of Geotech vegetation control matting with several layers of gravel to establish an area for materials and equipment storage.

HHC and FSC participated in a Combat Lifesaver (CLS) course the last week of Annual Training. A huge appreciation goes out to the medics who put in the effort simulating a realistic combat scenario for the class.

212th EN CO has been hard at work in East Tennessee this Annual Training. 2nd Platoon constructed a 72 foot aluminum bridge for Frozen Head State Park in order to connect their visitor center and event location to a parking lot at the front of the park allowing easier access.
