LOCAL TRAFFIC ADVISORY FOR GRADUATIONS

Mercer County officials have issued local traffic advisories for numerous graduation ceremonies over the next several weeks. Significant congestion is anticipated around Trenton’s CURE Insurance Arena (81 Hamilton Avenue) on these specified dates and times. Heavy traffic and delays are expected near the arena, especially during entry times and after the ceremonies. Motorists should plan their routes with extra time when driving on Hamilton Avenue, Broad Street, Route 129, and nearby roads during these periods.

Please travel safely – Sheriff Jack Kemler

THIS WEEK IS NATIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATORS-DISPATCHERS WEEK

I want to thank our dedicated Mercer County Sheriff's Office Dispatchers, along with all state, county, and local emergency dispatchers, including the teams at our County's Office of Emergency Management and Emergency Service Center.

Their jobs are critical to public safety. They often manage urgent situations from the start, using their professional skill sets and high-speed telephones, radios, and computers to dispatch first responders to any imaginable problem or life-threatening situation.

They work to make our communities safer from the first ring of the phone, answering emergency calls 24/7 - 365 days a year, dispatching emergency professionals and equipment, running criminal checks, monitoring critical situations, and even rendering life-saving assistance to those in need – while on the line.

We appreciate and support our dispatchers.

RAISE YOUR AWARENESS, NOT YOUR CELL PHONE

When you keep your eyes on the road, you help keep everyone safe. April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month -a time to remember that even a moment of distraction can have serious consequences. Every year, thousands of accidents are caused by drivers who take their attention off the road, often to check a message or glance at their phone.

Let’s do our part by putting our phones away, staying alert, and watching out for pedestrians, cyclists, and other vehicles. Remember, your safety and the safety of others depend on your focus behind the wheel. Make a commitment this month and beyond to drive responsibly and help end distracted driving in our community.

Stay focused, drive safely, and set a positive example for everyone on the road.
