- U.S. Coast Guard urges you to respect the lifeline. Hoax maydays and misuse of Channel-16 put lives at risk! 🚨

Every minute counts in a real Emergency! Hoax calls waste precious CG resources, potentially meaning the difference between life and death for someone in danger. Falsely reporting distress is a federal crime! Remember, is for distress, safety, and brief calling only.

Knowingly transmitting false distress calls is a under 18 U.S. Code § 1038 and can lead to criminal and civil penalties if found guilty. The misuse can be punishable by up to six years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines, plus the cost of the search.

Keep transmissions brief, monitor for actual distress and switch to a working channel for conversations. Unnecessary chatter can also block communication during real emergencies!

WAYNE COUNTY BRIDGE REOPENED
As of 4:00 PM today, Monday, June 30, 2025, the Grosse Ile Parkway Bridge is officially open to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

Repairs were completed ahead of schedule by the Wayne County Department of Public Services.

• New speed limit: 25 MPH (reduced from 35 MPH)
• Speed humps and feedback signs will be added
• Load rating remains unchanged
• Regular speed and weight checks will be enforced

These changes are critical to protecting the long-term integrity of the bridge. Please drive safely, follow all posted signage, and stay alert for any remaining construction activity or updates.
