Whether we think we need rain or not, it’s coming. We have an enhanced risk of severe weather. Keep your eye on the sky and your ear to your weather radio.

An Enhanced (Level 3 out of 5) Multiple round of severe weather occurring today as storm from IA/MO border move southeast across NE MO today. Non-severe showers and thunderstorms have redeveloped across the KC metro area and will continue through the early afternoon. There is the potential for afternoon storms to develop today, primarily in NE KS/NW MO, with all hazards being possible but current storm environment may influence this evening storms. Confidence exists in a line of thunderstorms progressing southeastward by the early evening, with damaging wind being the primary threat, but also including the threat of large hail and embedded tornadoes. Excessive rainfall with storms will lead to flooding concerns.

The Trenton Police Department extends our sincere appreciation to the United States Deputy Sheriff’s Association (USDSA) for their generous donation of a RTS Tactical 14x24 Mini Shield to our Department.

This shield donation significantly enhances our readiness to respond to critical incidents while also increasing the safety and confidence of both our Police Officers and the citizens we protect. Ensuring the safety of our Police Officers is our highest priority, and thanks to the USDSA, we have been able to enhance that protective measure. This new equipment empowers our Police Officers to safely and effectively manage high-risk scenarios, ensuring they return home to their families after each shift and continue serving our community.

Through impactful partnerships like the one we share with the USDSA, the Trenton Police Department is increasingly equipped to deliver exceptional service to our citizens.

Even with several other activities and events in the area, the Trenton Police Department hosted 72 local children at the 14th Annual Cops N Bobbers fishing event on Saturday, June 6th, 2026. Many fish were caught as area kids spent the morning fishing with the Law Enforcement Officers and First Responders.

The Shortgrass Chapter of Quail Forever also provided several other outdoor activities for the youth to participate in when they were done fishing.

After fishing with equipment provided by the Missouri Department of Conservation at the North Central Missouri College - Barton Farm Campus Pond, the youth were served lunch by Quail Forever.
Following the giving away of door prizes to all the youth fisherman, the grand prize of a Missouri Lifetime Fishing Permit was awarded to a lucky 6-year-old.

The Trenton Police Department would like to thank all the people and businesses that helped make this event a success with special recognition to our community partners and those who provided prizes for each of the kids that registered for the event.

D-Day, or June 6, 1944, was the name given to the Normandy invasion, a key event in World War II. It marked the beginning of Allied efforts to liberate Western Europe from N**i occupation. The term "D-Day" is a military code designation for the start date of a major operation.

Approximately 156,000 Allied soldiers landed on D-Day, supported by a massive force of nearly 7,000 ships and landing craft.
