Today is Election Day!
Serving as your mayor has been one of the greatest honors of my life. I’m proud of the progress we’ve made together—revitalizing Midland Square was just the start of bringing new life to our downtown. We’ve also focused on thoughtful growth, and working toward affordable housing that meets the needs of Tremonton families—all while preserving what makes our community special.

Today, I encourage everyone to make your voice heard. Every vote counts, and your participation shapes the future of Tremonton. Let’s keep building a strong, connected community—planning wisely for the future while protecting the values that make Tremonton home.

Thank you for caring, for engaging, and for believing in Tremonton.

I love Tremonton and believe our best days are still ahead.

My vision is simple—well-planned growth that protects our small-town feel, a revitalized downtown where people gather and businesses thrive, strong economic development that brings jobs closer to home, and affordable housing for families and seniors.

Together, we can build Tremonton’s future with purpose and pride.

WHY I SERVE
People sometimes ask why I chose to serve Tremonton. The answer goes back to one of the hardest times of my life. While recovering from cancer surgery, Kathy and I lost our son, Corey. The outpouring of love and concern from this community carried us through.

That same compassion was felt again this past August, after the heartbreaking loss of our officers. The way Tremonton came together—supporting one another, lifting those who were hurting—reminded me once again of the strength and goodness of our people.

Those experiences deepened my gratitude and my desire to give back to this incredible community.

Being mayor isn’t always easy, but it’s an honor. Kathy and I serve because we love Tremonton—its people, its values, and the connection that makes it home.
That’s why I do this.

Why Relationships Matter for Tremonton

Strong relationships with county, state, and federal leaders bring real results for our city. They help us secure grants for projects like expanding our secondary water system and ensure Tremonton’s voice is heard where it counts.

These connections also honor our community in meaningful ways. Senator John Curtis laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and recognized our fallen Tremonton and Garland officers on the Senate Floor. Representative Blake Moore recently visited with the families of those fallen officers offering comfort and a listening ear. Governor Cox highlighted the Borgstrom brothers during his 2025 State of the State Address, and soon after, the Utah Legislature, led by Representative Tom Peterson and Senator Scott Sandall, unanimously renamed Highway 102 as the Borgstrom Brothers Memorial Highway—an honor more than 80 years in the making.

Tremonton deserves a mayor who is respected, connected, and ready to keep these partnerships working for our community. These relationships take time to build—and they matter now more than ever.

I’m truly grateful for the friendship and support of Congressman Blake Moore. He has been a tremendous advocate for Northern Utah and a trusted partner in helping Tremonton move forward.

His recent words mean a great deal to me:

“It’s always in the toughest of times when you can tell the character of a leader. I have always appreciated Mayor Holmgren’s dedication to Tremonton and his involvement with my team, but his leadership during the recent tragedy of our fallen officers was beyond inspiring. He leads with a quiet humility but has a deep understanding of this community’s needs. I encourage all to join me in supporting Lyle for another term as mayor serving the great city of Tremonton!” — Congressman Blake Moore

Working together with our county, state, and national leaders helps ensure Tremonton’s needs are heard and supported. I’m thankful for those partnerships and for leaders like Representative Moore who share a deep commitment to our community.

WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO DO THIS?

What first drew me to serve Tremonton was a deep love for this community — its people, values, and the sense of connection that makes it home. But the moment that truly changed my desire to serve came during one of the hardest times of my life.

While I was in the hospital recovering from surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from my hip — on my birthday — Kathy received a phone call from what we thought was our daughter-in-law; it was actually her best friend. She said, “Kathy, I don’t know how to tell you this, but Corey has died.” Our son had passed away suddenly, leaving behind his wife, who was seven months pregnant, and three young children. The outpouring of love and concern from this community was overwhelming. In the months that followed, I battled stage 4 cancer. With the help of modern medical science, faith, and countless prayers, I was able to survive.

That experience forever altered my perspective. It instilled a renewed sense of gratitude and a strong desire to give back. I wanted to serve—not for recognition, but out of appreciation for the community that supported our family during our most difficult times.

Serving our community hasn't always been easy. Leadership often involves making tough decisions and facing criticism. But through everything, Kathy and I continue to serve because we love Tremonton and the people we share it with. This community has been our strength, and giving back has been one of the greatest honors of our lives. That's why.

Today, Congressman Blake Moore visited Tremonton and spent time with LaNette Sorensen and Brittany Estrada, the wives of our two fallen officers. I was deeply impressed by his compassion, sensitivity, and genuine concern for both of these remarkable women.

He didn’t come just to offer words—but to listen, to comfort, and to ensure that the families of our fallen heroes know they are supported, remembered, and cared for.

I am grateful for Congressman Moore’s continued friendship and for his heartfelt commitment to the people of Tremonton. His visit today reminded us all what true leadership and empathy look like.

I’m honored to receive Governor Spencer Cox’s endorsement. His example of service and leadership reflects the same principles that guide my own as mayor — rootedness, community, and purposeful growth.

Thoughtful growth is important and inevitable. It ensures our residents have a place to live, local businesses can thrive, and Tremonton’s economy remains strong — all while strengthening our sense of community.

Leadership also means listening to citizens and maintaining strong relationships with county, state, and national leaders — partnerships that help us secure resources and plan wisely for our community’s future.

Governor Cox’s words remind us what good leadership looks like: service, stewardship, and commitment to community.

“Mayor Holmgren understands the importance of rootedness and community and not growing for growth’s sake. We must honor our heritage, grow with purpose, and preserve agriculture and natural resources that make Utah so special.
Tremonton is a leader in the state in setting the right example. We would be fortunate to have more towns in our state like Tremonton and more leaders like Mayor Holmgren.”
— Governor Spencer Cox
