On November 3, 2026, voters in Tazewell County will vote on a 1% County Schools Facility Tax, also known as a one-cent tax. All school districts across Tazewell County have united to bring forward this request.

The majority of revenue from this tax would be paid by visitors, not Tazewell County taxpayers, because a One-Cent Tax applies to anyone that makes qualifying purchases under current Illinois Law. Visitors that shop and dine in Tazewell County would contribute nearly 60% of this revenue.

If approved, the one-cent tax will provide Tremont CUSD 702 with:

•Facility upgrades such as roof replacements, upgrades to classroom spaces, parking lots, etc.

•Safety and support upgrades for students such as entryway upgrades, school resource officers, and mental health providers

•Property tax protection for homeowners and decreases in student fees for families

Our PTO absolutely hit it out of the park this week spoiling the TGS staff with a market-style theme!! On top of organizing student appreciation days for each day of the week, they showered the staff with a coffee bar, muffins and scones, a pick your own bouquet bar, a market-style lunch, local honey and jams, pies, and a dirty soda bar!

Wow, what an incredible week!! THANK YOU to our fantastic PTO for taking time to help all of us feel valued this week and all throughout the year! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
