🚒 Training Day – Pump Operations 🚒

Today, 4 members from Newtown VFC and 3 members from Branchdale Fire Company got together for a hands-on pump operations training.

We worked on establishing a tanker fill site using a mine runoff/pond area to evaluate capacity and develop a repeatable process. With the recent rain, we were able to consistently sustain 800–1000 GPM utilizing both the stream bed and the concrete basin.

This type of training is critical for rural water supply operations and ensuring we can move water effectively when hydrants aren’t an option.

We plan to revisit this site and run the evolution again under lower water conditions to better understand its limitations and refine our setup.

Great teamwork and solid training by everyone involved.
