Midweek Movers week 9 is coming up TUESDAY!

Midweek Movers is a walking club to help encourage our community to get active this spring and our second-to-last meeting of this session is just a few days away!

Every Tuesday (weather permitting) from April 7-June 9, meet us in the parking lot of TCHD - Pekin (1800 Broadway St., Pekin) at 10 a.m. Then we'll head just behind the building to beautiful Mineral Springs Park.

Each week will feature a 30–40-minute walk plus education on topics like at-home physical activity, gardening, emergency preparedness and more!

Snacks and water will be provided and there's an opportunity to win prizes and check out great giveaways! This program is open to the public and to all ages!

We're continuing our monthly education campaign surrounding obesity and its health effects with a discussion on obesity and its link to kidney disease.

In our survey, less than half of Tazewell County residents said they thought that obesity put them at an extreme risk of developing kidney disease.

But did you know obesity is associated with up to 1 in 3 renal (kidney disease cases in the United States? Kidney disease can put you at higher risk for heart disease, high blood pressure, and dialysis. For more information on kidney disease, visit cdc.gov/kidney-disease/index.html

As we wind down National Women's Health Month, it's a great time to once again showcase our Woman's Health programs at TCHD!

Our Illinois Breast & Cervical Cancer Program (IBCCP) provides uninsured and underinsured women ages 21+ living in Tazewell, Peoria, Woodford, and Marshall Counties with FREE breast and cervical cancer screenings which can include anything from mammograms to pap tests and more!

Meanwhile, our Illinois WISEWOMAN Program (IWP), provides women ages 35-64 living in those same counties with cardiovascular screenings including blood pressure checks, cholesterol screenings, and diabetes screening. IWP also gets you access to health coaching and lifestyle programs related to nutrition, stress, physical activity, chronic disease management, and more.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, a limited number of cases of SkinnyDipped Dark Chocolate Coconut Almond Bites have been recalled out of an abundance of caution because they may contain undeclared peanut allergen.

The recall is being issued after a customer reported allegedly finding products containing peanut butter in a package labeled as Dark Chocolate Coconut Almond Bites. That product is not intended to contain peanut butter or peanut products.
