We grieve those who lost their lives that day, acknowledge the courage of the first responders who selflessly sprang into action, and remember that even in our darkest moments, the American spirit of resilience always shines through.

On this 25th anniversary of 9/11, Golden West Winds offers a contemplative moment from Marc Mellits’ composition “Apollo (II. Sea of Tranquility).” We invite you to listen, reflect, and renew the promise to never forget.

September in California means one thing: MONTEREY JAZZ FESTIVAL!

The Commanders Jazz Ensemble is thrilled to be returning to the west coast's most storied festival, which has been celebrating America's original art form since 1958.

We are particularly honored to be performing this year with two highly distinguished guest artists: trombonist Nick Finzer and pianist/composer Ellen Rowe Music, who will be joining us for the world premiere of her composition "Darkest Before the Dawn," written specifically for our ensemble.

The Commanders perform on Friday, September 25 at 3:30pm on the Tim Jackson Garden Stage. We'll see you there!

One week after her passing, we join the world in remembering American music icon Dolly Parton. In spite of her humble beginnings, Dolly went on to make extraordinary achievements as both an artist and a philanthropist, selling more than 100 million records while also making monumental contributions supporting education, literacy, healthcare, and disaster relief.

Dolly showed us how music can be a force to lift people up, bring communities together, and do good in the world. We honor her incredible legacy with a rendition of her 1974 single, "I Will Always Love You." 💜
