The Salvation Army Traverse City staff and Advisory Board would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation for their grant award of $10,000 to be utilized towards Emergency Housing Assistance through our Project Good Neighbor Program.

TOGETHER, we are keeping families in their homes and avoiding eviction, and assisting them with a HAND UP as they work their way through a life crisis and get back on their feet again.

Thank you for recognizing us for the impactful and vital work that we do here at our corps and have done for GENERATIONS of people in need in our community since 1894 -132 years strong!

❤️ Have you met Sherry?

Since 2020, Sherry has been a dedicated volunteer at The Salvation Army Traverse City Corps Community Center. What began as a desire to find purpose after the loss of her husband has grown into a meaningful commitment to serving others.

Every Monday and Wednesday, Sherry helps serve 85-110 meals, welcomes guests by name and reminds people they are seen, valued and cared for.

We're grateful for volunteers like Sherry who make our mission possible and help bring hope to our community.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!! RING! RING! 🔔🔔🔔 We are in need of volunteer bell ringers for our 2026 Red Kettle Campaign beginning November 13, 2026, through December 24, 2026!!!

Our Red Kettle Goal this year is $249,500, and we need you help with ringing the bells at our kettles across Grand Traverse County to reach our goal! This is a FUN AND REWARDING VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY TO HELP YOUR LOCAL NEIGHBORS IN NEED!

Bring your loved ones, kids, grandkids, coworkers, neighbors, friends, church groups, service groups, military groups - it takes an ARMY to fill these kettles every winter, and WE NEED YOU!!!

You can help by purchasing a $10 SIMPLY GIVE FOOD CARD located at the checkout lanes at Meijer in Traverse City (3955 N. US 31 South - West side of Traverse City ONLY), and adding this to your shopping cart. If you would like to donate MORE than $10 on this card, you may do so in increments of $10 only.

This card is given to us to purchase food only for our Food Pantry and Free Food Market and Free Community Lunch. It is this simple to provide nutritious food to our hungry neighbors in need who walk through our doors every day.

Wow!!! You will find amazing treasures this week at our The Salvation Army Thrift Store Traverse City on S. Airport Road at incredible prices!

Best part??? All donations to our store and subsequent sales fund our viral social service programs over at our Community Center on Barlow! Such as our Project Good Neighbor Program which provides emergency financial assistance to people needing help with rent to avoid eviction, keep utilities on and avoid shut offs, auto repairs so they can get to work or doctor appointments, medical/dental/vision needs, etc.

FOOD PANTRY DAY FOR THOSE WHO RESIDE IN GRAND TRAVERSE, BENZIE, OR LEELANAU COUNTIES! EVERY TUESDAY AND THURSDAY IS OUR FOOD PANTRY DAYS!

Our Food Pantry is open from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and 1 pm to 3 pm every Tuesday & Thursday (closed for holidays). Please have unexpired ID available when checking in, and there is a small intake form to complete. This is for people residing in our service counties of: Grand Traverse, Benzie, and Leelanau, and one visit per month is allowed.

Our Food Pantry offers a wide assortment of canned goods, boxed food items, fresh vegetables/fruit (as available), dairy, and frozen meat, along with personal hygiene items, and pet food (as available). Please share this information with your friends or neighbors in need as we would love to assist them!
