Friday, June 12 @ 6pm
Right Brain Brewery225 E. 16th Street, TC, MI (in the actual brewery, not the bar)

Presented by Leif Kolt & Nate SchwarzFree. No RSVP required.

Whether you're a supporter, Kyle-curious, or have no clue about him, this is your chance to hear directly from this candidate for MI-01 Rep (to take Crawfish Jack Bergman's seat.)

You must be a member of the GT Dems and MDP by the time of the convention. Please see a message from our outgoing Chair below, and look in the comments for the full Call to Convention.

Message from Trenton Lee:

Members of the Grand Traverse Democrats,

True leadership is not just knowing when to step up. It is also knowing when to step away.

Over the past eight months, my husband and I have become legal guardians to three incredible children, and that responsibility has changed my perspective on time, energy, and where I am most needed. As my life has become filled with a lot more stinky diapers, baseball games, and music lessons, the amount of time and energy I have to dedicate to this role is not enough to get this organization through the important midterm election season. The role of Chair of the Grand Traverse Democratic Party deserves someone who can give it their full focus, and at this moment, I cannot do that in the way this organization deserves. For these reasons, I have made the decision to step down as Chair.

I want to be clear that I am not stepping away from the work. I will remain active and engaged with the GT Dems, helping where I can, supporting the candidates I believe in, and continuing to organize and build momentum heading into 2028. I still believe deeply in the power of local organizing and in the people who make this party move forward every single day. If you have been waiting for the right moment to get involved, this is it. We need more people knocking doors, making calls, showing up to meetings, supporting candidates, and helping shape the future of this organization. Our work does not stop with one person stepping aside. In many ways, this is exactly when new leadership and new energy matter most.

In solidarity,
Trenton Lee
