Traverse City Police Department

Traverse City Police Department Excellence in public service and safety through community policing. Traverse City is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. While in Washington, D.C. in 1852, Mr.

It is the county seat of Grand Traverse County, although a small portion extends into Leelanau County. It is the largest city in the 21-county Northern Michigan region. The city population was recorded at 15,738 in 2019. In 1847, Captain Boardman of Naperville, Illinois, purchased the land at the mouth of the Boardman River at the head of the west arm of the bay. During that year the captain, his

son, and their employees built a dwelling and sawmill near the mouth of the river. In 1851 the Boardmans sold the sawmill to Hannah, Lay & Co (Perry Hannah, Albert Tracy Lay and James Morgan), who improved the mill greatly. The increased investment in the mill attracted additional settlers to the new community. As of 1853, the only operating post office in the Grand Traverse Bay region was the one located at Old Mission, which was then known as "Grand Traverse." Lay had succeeded in getting the U.S. Post Office to authorize a new post office at his newer settlement. The Village of Traverse City was incorporated in 1891. Four years later Traverse City became a home rule charter city under the Home Rule Cities Act, incorporated on May 18, 1895. The City Charter adopted on April 10, 1913 establishes "Traverse City shall have a Police Department" in Chapter V, section 52.

One of TC’s Finest. Thank you for all you do Ofc Fryczyinski. Thank you Safe Harbor for your partnership and service to our community!

🌟Partner Spotlight🌟

Meet Officer Krista Fryczynski, a 7-year veteran of the Traverse City Police Department. We’re thankful for her collaboration and support as Safe Harbor’s community officer. Here’s more about Officer Fryczynski’s important role with the shelter, which she has held for two years:

Close collaboration: “I work closely with Safe Harbor staff to collaborate on concerns involving guests and individuals within the vulnerable population who may need assistance and resources. Together, we focus on identifying the root causes of ongoing issues, with my goal being to reduce calls for service while building rapport and trust with our vulnerable population in Traverse City.”

Giving back: “What I enjoy most is getting to know people in our community, building relationships, and helping connect individuals with the support they need.”

A powerful partnership: “I truly value the partnership with Safe Harbor and the work they do for our community. Having strong relationships between law enforcement, service providers, and the vulnerable population helps create better outcomes for everyone involved.”

Thank you, Officer Fryczynski, for all that you do! We are so grateful! 🌟💙

Even though the weather conditions appear to have lessened, we would strongly encourage everyone to refrain from non essential travel to allow cleanup crews to work efficiently and get things back open fully.
