Even with summer just getting started, we are already preparing for winter operations!

This week, crews began hauling in winter sand to make sure we’re ready when the snow starts flying later this year.

Beitner Bridge update ⬇️

Work is officially underway on Beitner Bridge, crews have begun removing the culvert system — the first major step toward reopening the bridge following the recent storm damage.

Work is officially underway on the Brown Bridge Road project!

At this time, Brown Bridge Road and Beitner Road remain the only two county roads still closed. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as crews continue working to safely reopen these areas as quickly as possible.

We will continue to provide updates as progress is made!

TEMPORARY SIGNAL

US-31 and Hartman Road, Garfield Township
*Pavement Marking Crews will be working in the afternoon on Wednesday, May 27th.
*Signal Crews will be working on the signals Thursday, May 28th and the signal is expected to be operational at some point in the morning.
*This will cause some delays while crews are working.
*PLEASE SLOW DOWN AND USE CAUTION.

GARFIELD ROAD UPDATE

Work has been successfully completed, and the road is now fully open and traffic is flowing smoothly!

GARFIELD LANE CLOSURE UPDATE:

Great news! The water main held overnight, and paving is already underway. We are hoping to have it reopened today!

We will continue to keep you updated throughout the day. Thank you so much for your continued patience.

UPDATE ON GARFIELD LANE CLOSURE:

The water maine line issue has been identified and a new pipe has been installed. If the new pipe is able to hold pressure overnight, crews will be able to backfill the area with the potential to have it paved and reopened tomorrow.

Good news — a traffic signal is currently being installed at the intersection of Hartman Road and US-31.

A big thank you to Grand Traverse County and the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) for their partnership and commitment to making this project happen.
