On Saturday Engine 171, Tanker 17, and Attack 17 participated in a mobile water supply training hosted by Fair Play Fire Department. We would like to thank Fair Play for the invitation to train together and providing breakfast and lunch as well. Over 30 firefighters were in attendance.

From Fair Play FD:
This weekend, our department hosted a multi-department training focused on water shuttle operations and the importance of establishing an efficient water supply during incidents in areas where hydrants may not be readily available.

Neighboring departments, including Oakway, Crossroads, Double Springs, Townville, and members of Cleveland and Seneca City Fire came together to train on establishing multiple drafting/fill sites. Tankers operated between the fill sites and the dump site, where water was transferred into a dump tank. The attack engine then drafted from the dump tank to supply water to the attack lines, demonstrating how a coordinated water shuttle can provide a continuous flow of water to the fire.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out and participated! We had a great time training together, sharing knowledge, and strengthening the relationships between our neighboring departments.

Hwy 243 at Milford Rd is currently shut down due to a fatal traffic collision. Multiple agencies are currently working the scene. Seek alternate route.

Update as of 1250. 85 is open from the 4 to the 11 to clear the traffic stuck in the que. 85 will be detoured at exit 4 north for an unknown amount of time for clean up and inspection of roadway and repairs if needed.

** 85 Northbound shut down at the 11 mile marker just south of the Hwy 24/ Exit 11 interchange due to multi vehicle and 18 wheeler crash and fire. Townville Engine 172 arrived to find multiple vehicles and fire throughout an 18 wheeler with Engine 5 arriving from the opposite side to find a fire in another vehicle. One individual was transported for evaluation. 85 will be a hazard for sometime with an earlier incident still being cleared around exit 19. Southbound traffic is slow, but moving.

TVFD crews spent yesterday morning celebrating America’s 250th Birthday by participating in the Double Springs Golf Cart Parade. It was a great turnout with 86 golf carts, UTV’s and approximately 200 folks watching along the way. Last night we enjoyed a cook out and fireworks with our families at the station. Happy Bday America. We are proud to serve our community and our country.

Anheuser-Busch has a longstanding tradition of providing support for disaster relief efforts, dating back to 1906. Each year, the nation’s top brewer periodically pauses beer production to produce emergency drinking water for communities impacted by or preparing for disaster and, since the inception of its Emergency Drinking Water initiative in 1988, has donated more than 100 million cans of clean, safe drinking water for communities in need. With an increased focus on disaster preparedness, Anheuser-Busch partnered with the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) in 2019 to create the Emergency Drinking Water for Wildland Firefighters program.

Keeping firefighters hydrated during long incidents or disasters such as wildfires is a critical need for fire departments, yet many volunteer departments struggle with limited budget and resources. To help departments meet this need, Anheuser-Busch will donate 1.5 million cans of clean drinking water in 2026 to prepare local volunteer firefighters with vital resources ahead of the annual summer wildfire season, rather than waiting until after disaster strikes. The program has supported volunteer fire departments with nearly 12 million cans of water through 3,772 deliveries across almost all 50 states.
