UPDATE: The Ridgewood Police Department has confirmed two raccoon bites that occurred on Saturday evening in the area of Maple Field. Both individuals have received medical attention.

Animal Control continues to canvass the area. At this time, there is no evidence of the raccoon.

Residents are reminded not to approach any raccoon that appears sick, injured, or is behaving unusually. Such sightings should be reported immediately to the Ridgewood Police Department.

Anyone who believes they may have come into contact with the animal should call the police and seek medical attention without delay. If left untreated, rabies is almost always fatal.
