The event will be held at the McCauslin Golf Course Country Club on Highway F, a mile and a half east of Lakewood. The theme for this year’s dinner is Book It! Basket and 50-50 raffle tickets will be sold during the Social Hour which begins at five p.m. Dinner will be served at six.
Seating for the event, which has sold out the past two years, is limited to 70 guests. Tickets can be purchased at the Lakes Country Public Library. Call 715-276-9020 for more information or if you would like to make a donation for the basket raffles. Tickets are $50/person and may be purchased to reserve tables for two, four or eight.
From the Building/Expansion Committee: The new addition is in the finishing stages and should be completed by mid-April when the contractor will “break through” the existing wall. Current library fixtures, equipment, and collections will be transferred to the addition which will serve library patrons until the project is finished. The current library area will then undergo a much-needed makeover which will double the size of the Children’s Library and re-configure the floor plan to provide better services for our patrons. The entire project should be completed by mid-summer. A Dedication Celebration is tentatively scheduled for July 27, 2024.
From the Fundraising Committee: We are closing in our $1.5 million goal. Contributions for the project are still being solicited. Please help us reach the target! Stop by the Library with a donation, contribute online at www.lakescountylibrary.org or send a check to LCPL, 15235 State Highway 32, Box 220, Lakewood, WI 54138. All donations are fully tax-deductible and greatly appreciated.

Library is in painting/finish carpentry stage. Watching this all come together is a popular community topic.

Windows installed in Lakewood Library! Carpenters are busy framing inside to get ready for drywall. This is happening!

12/09/2023

Roof is on the library; windows next week. Should be enclosed by Christmas. YEEHAW!

11/07/2023

Slab is cured and framing set to begin at Lakewood Library. Get ready for an amazing new facility that should be fully operational by August. Forgive me for being snarky, but I saw a meme on FB today: "Never underestimate an old lady who used to be a teacher." So here's to all those negative nabobs who said I could and would never raise the money to do this project. Just saying...

COVID is roaring back because the Delta variant is highly transmissable. Census Tract 1003 (Doty, Lakewood, Townsend) recorded FIVE new cases in the past two days. We are currently at 297. Every adjoining census tract, (areas of Forest, Langlade, Marinette and Oconto Counties) is up 2-4 infections making EIGHTEEN new infections in the last two days.

If you aren't already vaccinated, you can do it today. Nicolet Pharmacy in Lakewood is still offering the vaccine. It's free and practically painless. And if you are vaccinated, it's best to wear a mask and practice social distancing until we know if boosters are needed and become available.

09/09/2021

We are up to 290 positive cases in Census Tract 1003 (Townsend, Doty, and Lakewood). Several have been diagnosed during the past week. Take care, everyone.

Today in Wisconsin History: Worst natural disaster to ever hit Townsend. Some folks are still cleaning up.

Hundreds of thousands of trees were blown down on July 19 and 20, 2019, by winds of more than 100 mph, with the worst damage associated with a macroburst from Oneida through Langlade and Oconto counties. Back-to-back derechos — damaging thunderstorm winds occurring across a path of 250 miles or more — happened over the two days. Mixed in with the damaging winds were seven minor tornadoes.
