🦋💗 The City of Townsend joins in mourning our neighbor born and raised just over the mountain in Sevier County.

Whether she was writing classics like "Jolene" and "I Will Always Love You," starring on the big screen, or giving millions of books to children through her Imagination Library, she lived her life with generosity, humility, and infectious joy.

Rest in peace, Dolly. Thank you for the music, the love, and the mountain spirit. You will always be loved. 💗🦋

📣 Opportunity to serve on Parks & Recreation Advisory Board 📣

The City of Townsend would like to announce an opportunity for residents to express their interest in becoming a member of a Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. The Parks and Recreation Board meets monthly (second Tuesday each month at 6 PM) to promote community involvement and organize events to support a fun and healthy atmosphere in Townsend.

The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board will hold their regular monthly meeting tomorrow, July 14, 2026, at 6 PM. The meeting will be held at city hall and is open to the public.
