On May 28, Johanna Bossard, Agriculture Education Teacher and FFA Advisor, introduced us to two senior students whose experiences in her classes have helped shape their future career paths. Through opportunities such as job shadowing and capstone projects tailored to their individual interests, both students have gained valuable real-world experience and professional connections.
James Hanmer has developed a strong interest in automotive repair, while Jack Penoyer has focused on welding. Several local businesses generously participated in the job shadowing program, including Brink Manufacturing and Design, Doc’s Small Engine Repair, SUNY Morrisville’s Ford ASSET Program, Paul’s Paint Shop, the British Blacksmith, Pierce Auto Parts, Barbland and White Eagle Dairy, A&R Tire Service, Joe Inman, Project Manager at Colgate University, and Deployed Global Solutions at Griffiss Air Force Base.
As a result of these experiences, both students have been offered part-time employment opportunities. Following graduation from HCS, Jack will attend Mohawk Valley Community College, and James will continue his education through SUNY Morrisville’s Ford ASSET Program.
Both young men expressed sincere gratitude to Mrs. Bossard and HCS for helping them develop the knowledge, confidence, and skills needed for future success. We congratulate Jack and James and wish them continued success in their careers.
In their honor, the children’s book Green Cities: How Green Infrastructure Helps Urban Cities Thrive by Sheila Boudreau was donated to the Hamilton Public Library.
