The Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations from the public for the 2016 CB&S Bank Citizen of the Year Award.
The award will be presented to a current Lawrence County resident who has
1. Consistently demonstrated excellence in professional and community leadership;
2. Made, or is making, significant contributions to the welfare of the community through involvement and participation; and
3. Given freely of their time and energy for community betterment, contributing to positive growth and stability for the area.
"In years past, the Chamber gave out several awards for teachers, businesses, volunteers of the year and others," executive director Jason Houston said. "We want to bring that back, beginning with this one, prominent award, and we hope to add more in the future. We want to highlight someone who has worked to make our county better, to promote something very positive as we wrap up 2016. We are grateful to CB&S Bank for sponsoring this award and providing a monetary prize for the winner."
The award will be presented at the Chamber's annual banquet, to be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday night, Jan. 26, 2017. Nomination forms must be submitted to the Chamber by Dec. 16, 2016. The forms will be available at the Chamber office, at numerous businesses around the county and may also be downloaded online by clicking http://www.lawrencealabama.com/2016_Citizen_of_the_Year.pdf.
