Route 40 is open to traffic.

**UPDATE - 12:54pm 6/7/26**
Traffic advisory: Route 40 between Route 6 and Interstate 80 is closed due to flooding. There is also a significant amount of water on the roadway in the area of Route 40 at 1745 North Avenue (north of Interstate 80). Interstate 80 is also experiencing significant flooding in the area of Route 40. Please find an alternate route.

Friday May 15, 2026, U.S. flags are to be flown at half-staff for Peace Officers Memorial Day, honoring law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. The flag should be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset, a requirement for federal and public buildings, and recommended for private citizens.

Traffic Advisory – Thursday, April 30

Due to a large funeral procession, please expect traffic delays and intermittent lane closures on the following roadways:

Route 40: From the Marshall/Peoria County line to Route 17

Route 17: Eastbound to County Road 400 East

County Road 400 East (UP Church Road): To 650 North

The procession will begin at approximately 12:30 PM and is expected to conclude around 2:00 PM.
