ATTENTION RESIDENTS:
Annual Hydrant Flushing Program

The Totowa Water Department will begin its annual hydrant flushing program starting the week of April 13, 2026. This essential maintenance is expected to last approximately four to six weeks.

Schedule & Operations:
• Hours: Monday through Friday | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• Duration: 4–6 weeks
• Start Area: The Industrial District and Echo Glen neighborhood

Project Purpose:
Hydrant flushing is a standard preventive maintenance procedure. By systematically circulating high-velocity water through the borough’s infrastructure, we remove accumulated sediment to ensure the continued delivery of clean, high-quality water to our residents.

Important Resident Guidelines:
During this period, you may experience temporary water discoloration or a slight drop in pressure. To ensure the best results, please observe the following:

• Check Your Water: Before drinking, cooking, or using appliances, run your cold water taps for several minutes until the water runs clear.

• Laundry Precautions: Avoid doing laundry during active flushing hours (9 AM – 3 PM) to prevent potential staining of garments.

• Internal Systems: If you use a water filtration system or softener, you may wish to bypass it or check filters following the flushing in your area.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to maintain the integrity of Totowa’s water system.
