What does an EWC host parent do?

At EWC, it is not a residential program, but rather a friendship built on occasional meals, activities, and check-ins.

You don’t have to be a superhero, just someone willing to welcome a student into your life.

Here are some of the simple things our host parents do:
🏡 Provide a welcoming, supportive environment
🍽️ Share meals and everyday family experiences
🎉 Invite students to family and community activities
🏐 Attend games or events & cheer students on when possible
🌎Help foreign students learn the American culture
💬 Be someone they can talk to, ask questions, and lean on
❤️ Help them feel connected and cared for while they're away from home

At the end of the day, you’re helping an EWC student feel like they belong, and in return you receive new perspectives, lasting friendship and the opportunity to positively influence a student's life.
