I wish everyone I know could listen to Jarrod talk about local history. He’s a wealth of knowledge! Our Library Middles learned so much today, and I was impressed by how engaged they were in the conversation. Thank you, Jarrod!

We hid from the rain and had an excellent story hour! We read Three Little Dinosaurs by Charles Fuge, “excavated” chocolate chips from our cookies, and made special dinosaur cards. We used the Cricut Venture to cut dinosaurs for our cards. We have it on loan from SEKLS, made possible through the DOCK Grant they secured!

We’re doing fossil cookies and Dino crafts with Ms Jessie in the morning and learning about exploring history in the afternoon with Jarrod McVey!

We dug for bones, cleaned them in the lab, and built giant Dino skeletons for display! Then we built our own dinosaurs. Our Minecraft event was so fun. Thanks for coming! This program was made possible through a DOCK Grant administered by Southeast Kansas Library System!

Well, Graphic Novel Fan Club is DEFINITELY here to stay. We shared our favorite graphic novels and talked about what kinds of books interest us. We grabbed some snacks and created our own comic pages, both with and without prompts. We also LAUGHED a lot. This was a fun, laid back Saturday morning. We plan to invite more friends and watch this club grow!

Thursday afternoon, Ms Natalie Spangenberg led us in an awesome multi-step art adventure that the kids really loved!
1. We traced dinos and fossils out of books
2. We laid 3D materials out along our drawing. We used wires, beads, pipe cleaners…
3. We glued down our 3D items
4. We used plaster to make a cast over our “fossils”
5. We painted (some glow in the dark!) them and applied some fun mica powder shimmer
6. We added magnets to the back!
