ABC Cracks Down on Illegal Alcohol Sales

The Alcoholic Beverage Control Division has seized more than 1,000 bottles of unlicensed alcoholic beverages being sold as kratom “shots” in v**e shops across the state.

Lab tests showed these products contained over 15% alcohol and were being sold without the required licenses. ABC executed search warrants at 12 locations statewide, and criminal charges are being submitted for review.

ABC reminds consumers and retailers to stay alert and report suspected violations to help keep Kansas communities safe.

Know Before You Stock

Retailers and licensed establishments: make sure your inventory is coming from the right sources. Kansas law requires purchases from licensed Kansas distributors or farm wineries—and there are specific rules for clubs, caterers, and drinking establishments. Stay compliant, stay informed.

The Office of the Kansas Attorney General recently released a memorandum regarding THC. The Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) would like to remind retailers and distributors that in Kansas, it's illegal to possess or sell controlled substances—including unlawful THC products. THC-infused drinks fall under this ban unless they meet very specific legal exceptions. Retailers and distributors are responsible for making sure their products comply with state law.
