The Tooele County Republican Party Executive Committee has unanimously authorized the following statement:

The Tooele County Republican Party commends the Tooele County Council for its visionary, proactive leadership in working to establish robust regulations for future data center and large-scale industrial developments. Data centers are rapidly expanding across Utah and possess the dual potential to either significantly strengthen local economies or deeply strain vital community resources. By implementing strategic guardrails now, our County Council is ensuring that future growth aligns with the long-term interests, safety, and prosperity of Tooele County residents.

This forward-thinking action directly aligns with a recent resolution passed by the Utah Republican Party's State Central Committee, which strongly urges municipalities and counties statewide to enact protective regulations regarding large industrial complexes and data centers. Failing to address this impending growth will not stop data centers from coming; instead, it leaves our communities vulnerable to unfavorable terms and external exploitation. Proactive regulation is the only viable path to protect our resources, and we thank the County Council for standing firm in this vision, even in the face of misguided opposition.

We strongly encourage all municipal leaders and other leaders of regulatory entities within Tooele County, to follow the County Council's lead. Rather than starting from scratch, local municipalities should utilize the comprehensive regulatory language already developed by the county to establish their own protective ordinances. A unified regulatory front across our cities and county will guarantee that our entire region is shielded from the risks of unregulated industrial expansion.

The Tooele County Republican Party stands firmly behind our elected county leaders as they work to secure our community’s future. We must remain vigilant, prepared, and proactive. We extend our gratitude to the Tooele County Council for their courage and foresight in protecting our citizens, our infrastructure, and the unique quality of life we enjoy in Tooele County.
