The Tooele Army Depot (TEAD) Fire Department supports approximately 500 employees between both the Tooele Army Depot North & South areas. TEAD North is approximately 25,172 acres in size and has around 1,697 buildings. It also houses around 900 munitions igloos and has a storage capacity of over 2 million square feet. TEAD South consists of approximately 19,000 acres, 208 igloos, a demilitarizatio

n facility, two laboratories, maintenance areas, administrative buildings, and massive infrastructure. The surrounding communities of Tooele, Grantsville, Rush Valley, Ophir, Stockton, and Vernon consist of approximately 46,000 people. For many of these communities, the Depot Fire Department is the closest resource, and is one the few fully staffed career Fire Department capable of a 24/7 response . As such, the Tooele Army Depot Fire Department is routinely called out for mutual aid, and has several mutual aid agreements in place.
