📢 Wood County residents can sign up now for a new emergency notification system to stay alert during severe weather and other potential emergencies.

Wood County Alert (powered by Everbridge) will be used to send local notifications about severe weather, emergencies, road closures, public safety alerts, and other important updates. Users can choose how they prefer to be contacted, including by text message, phone call, email, or a mobile app.

The new system replaces Wood County’s previous emergency notification platform, CodeRED. It is important to note that prior registrations for CodeRed will not transfer, and all users will need to create a new account to receive alerts.

Firefighting takes heart, courage, and commitment, and it all starts here. 🚒 Join Penta Career Center’s Volunteer Firefighter Program, with a new orientation date on October 25, 2025, at 9 AM in Room 1234.

Classes begin October 28 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6–10 PM, plus select Saturdays.

Looking forward to this water rescue training with our local partners and the USCG. If you’d like to observe, please do so from a safe distance.

⚠️⚠️PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT⚠️⚠️

This Saturday September 27th from 9:30a - 1p there will be several other departments along with the US Coast Guard helicopter in town.

The Coast Guard helicopter will be landing in the back grass behind the station around 10am. We ask that between the hours of 9:30am - 11:30am you avoid the grass area and alleyway behind the fire station. Do not park nor drive down the alleyway during this time as we need to keep it clear for helicopter.

After they land we will be doing a briefing with them. Once that is complete we all will be moving over to the marina area to do training by land, in water and with the helicopter.

We ask that if you come and watch you please be aware of the safety perimeter that will be set up at the station and marina and allow us space to do a proper training.
