Have you ever wondered what kinds of critters you might see while exploring our park? There are so many quiet guests and residents who enjoy the mining park! Many of them won't be seen unless you are very quiet and observant. While others, you may not want to see at all! Along with the animals shown, there are many more who do not like their photos taken! We see bobcats, coyotes, foxes, horned owls, many crows, horned lizards and ground chipmunks!
We encourage enjoying the wildlife here at the park but urge caution and respect. These adorable critters are wild and tolerate human company but don't want to cuddle!

Butler Days in Tonopah is always a great time! The whole town seems to come together to celebrate the founding of our amazing little town and so many activities bring the community together. The Mining Park has made it a tradition to participate in our town parade with a float and great representation from our staff, volunteers and friends! This time around we were lucky enough to have Jim and Belle Butler join us (Jeff Martin and Becky Braska ) along with their trusty B***o. This fun and whimsical presentation scored us second place from the parade judges!

Summer is right around the corner! After a slow relaxing winter, the Mining Park is finally gearing up for some summertime activities! Our blacksmithing classes have become a tremendous success with lots of demand for folks to get hands on with a hot forge and craft a unique piece of their own. With that being said, classes are limited and we only have about 6 slots for every class date. Currently the schedule is as follows:

June 6th and 27th
July 25th
August 1st and 29th
September 5th and 26th
October 3rd and 31st

These are single day classes. However, you do have the option of scheduling separate dates for private classes depending on instructor availability.

President Trump has signed an executive order as of December 18th, 2025, declaring that December 24th, 25th and 26th are Federal Holidays. In accordance with this order the Tonopah Historic Mining Park will be closed all day on those 3 days.

As Christmas draws near, our small community hosts several festivities. The Mining Park participated in the Festival of Trees once again with the donation of funds from the Town of Tonopah. Huge thanks to our creative staff members for making this happen !!
