Join us for an evening of fun, community, and public safety at National Night Out!

Meet your local first responders, explore emergency vehicles, enjoy live demonstrations, food, bounce houses, gift bags, and stop by to visit some amazing local dog rescues ( Nickel City Canine Rescue, Allie & Pals Rescue , Rescue Buffalo , Erie County Blotter. , Mel’s K-9 , The Pit Chic - All Breed Dog Training ) and community partners.

🚨 Tonawanda, NY Weather Alert – Saturday, July 18

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the Tonawanda area until 3:45 PM EDT and a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 9:00 PM EDT. Hazards include damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph, quarter-sized hail, torrential rain, and the potential for an isolated tornado.

Please Keep Your Pets Safe

* Bring all pets indoors immediately during the high winds , heavy rain
* Keep dogs on a leash for quick potty breaks—never leave them unattended outside.
* Close curtains or blinds to reduce lightning flashes that may increase anxiety.
* Play calming music or white noise to help mask thunder.
* Ensure every pet is wearing an ID tag or write your number with a sharpie on duct tape and secure to the collar, ensure microchip information is current.
* Have crates or a quiet “safe room” available for pets that become fearful.
* Keep fresh water available at all times.

Secure Your Yard

* Bring in patio furniture, grills, umbrellas, garbage cans, toys, and anything that could become airborne.
* Double-check gates and fence latches.
* Remove long tie-outs or cables that could become dangerous in high winds.
* Inspect trees for loose branches if it is safe to do so before the storm arrives.

Secure Your Home

* Close and lock all windows and exterior doors.
* Secure storm doors and screen doors.
* Keep garage doors closed.
* Charge your phone and keep flashlights handy in case of a power outage.
* If a tornado warning is issued, move everyone—including pets—to an interior room on the lowest floor, away from windows.

Stay weather-aware this afternoon and evening, as storms may develop rapidly and become severe.
