Our Commission enjoyed meeting with everyone who attended our public hearing over the past few weeks.
As we get ready to move the proposed Charter to the ballot in November we would still like to give everyone a chance to address the final product.
The biggest change is how the City chooses its City Attorney and Treasurer. To conform with most other local governments, we would like the two positions to be appointed by consensus of the Mayor’s office and the City Council, with education and experience requirements.
The other item to consider is having the City Council use the North Tonawanda model of City Government and have four wards represented by a single Councilmember, serving two year terms, and one At-large Councilmember, serving a four year term, with the Council choosing each year who acts as their Council President.
I look forward to hearing from the community as we complete this important process.
