The City of Tonasket will hold a regularly scheduled City Council meeting on Tuesday, September 8, at 6:00 PM.

As part of the agenda, the Mayor and Council will discuss a revised contract from the Department of Natural Resources regarding the use and restoration of Chief Tonasket Park.

In response to community inquiries about the park's current condition and restoration efforts, the discussion will focus on the process and plans to restore the fields to their original state.

​All community members are welcome to attend. There will be an opportunity for public comment and questions.

Fire Management Update:

Today, August 29th at 6:00 a.m. CAL FIRE Incident Management Team 5 transferred command of the Sinlahekin Fire to Southwest Complex Incident Management Team 3.

CAL Fire, thank you so much for your professionalism, dedication, and cooperation on the Sinlahiken Fire.

With the current Red Flag Warning and lightning in the forecast, I wanted to share with you how our local, state, and federal fire agencies are working together.

​Response Plan:
Within 3 miles of the Sinlahekin Fire footprint, CAL Fire will provide an immediate attack on any new starts. Crews are out and on standby.

​Outside the 3-mile radius:
Coordinating jurisdictions will request aid as needed, and partner agencies will deploy available resources.

Approximately 1,700 personnel are continuing to work out of Chief Tonasket Park.

CAL Fire, our Incident Management Team, recently managed response efforts on the Reevas Basin and Balky Hill area fires in coordination with local agencies.

​Thank you to CAL FIRE, our local Fire Districts, DNR, and the Forest Service for their continued collaboration and efforts to protect our community!

​Please stay vigilant and report any new smoke or fire activity immediately.

Below is our updated picture of our Local Hero nominations! What an incredible site! Our community really pulled together to save all that we could and support each other how we can! Hats off to everyone!

The City of Tonasket is compiling a list of local heroes who provided essential support during the Sinlahekin Fire crisis. Names submitted by community members are currently on display at City Hall.
​If you would like to nominate someone who went above and beyond, please contact City Hall. While it is difficult to capture every act of service, we want to ensure our community’s extraordinary neighbors and friends are recognized! ❤️
