So let’s get this straight: in an affordability crisis, we’re going to cut STAYNJ for seniors, ignore our woefully underfunded schools, and do nothing about tax relief for residents— but those same citizens are going to pay for a multi-million dollar legal defense fund for illegal migrants who are draining our state’s resources….

Make it make sense.

On June 6th we remember Trooper Marc Castellano #6397. Rest in peace, Sir. We will never forget.
On Sunday, June 6, 2010, Trooper Castellano was walking along the shoulder of Interstate 195 West near the Exit 31 ramp in Howell Township. He was searching for an alleged armed occupant of an abandoned vehicle that was connected to an ongoing investigation when he was struck by a passing motorist. He was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, New Jersey, where he died several hours later from his injuries.

Trooper Castallano served 5 years and 8 months with the New Jersey State Police and was survived by his parents, a brother, his wife and two children. Trooper Castellano was 29 years old.

We hoped Governor Sherrill would focus on making New Jersey more affordable and work with us on issues that actually matter to families. Instead of returning money to ratepayers, restoring school funding, or protecting services for veterans, seniors, people with disabilities, and vulnerable children, she just announced another $12 million for illegal immigrant legal defense programs.

It's embarrassing. New Jersey families are struggling, school districts are being shortchanged, and taxpayers keep getting squeezed. If this is what Governor Sherrill considers a priority, New Jersey is in for a very long four years.

On the 82nd anniversary of D-Day, let us remember and honor the brave members of our military, as well as those of the Allied forces, who stormed the beaches of Normandy to defend our rights and freedom. Let us also never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
