EARLY HALLOWEEN ::

BAENGNYEONG ISLAND, South Korea - U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Josh J. Neahusan, right, applies camouflage paint during a sniper training exchange exercise between Marines of the Republic of Korea and the U.S. at Baengnyeongdo, Republic of Korea, Sept. 11, 2015. Marines from both countries exchanged weapon systems, methods of concealment, and capabilities throughout the training. The exercise was part of Korean Marine Exchange Program 15-13, a bilateral training exercise that enhances the ROK and U.S. alliance, promotes stability on the Korean Peninsula, and strengthens ROK and U.S. military capabilities. Neahusan, from Middletown, Maryland, is a scout sniper attached to Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, currently assigned to 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, under the unit deployment program. The ROK Marines are with 6th Force Recon Company, 6th Brigade, 2nd ROK Marine Corps Division.

RETURNING QUALITY CITIZENS TO SOCIETY ::

A schoolgirl reads to U.S. Marine Capt. Paul Brashier, a civil affairs Marine assigned to III Marine Expeditionary Force, following a mural painting project at Don Joaquin Artuz Memorial Elementary School in Tapaz, Philippines, during Balikatan 2015, April 23. The mural, undertaken by the local schoolchildren, was a project of the Combined-Joint Civil-Military Operations Task Force on the island of Panay.

TRAIN HOW YOU FIGHT ::

U.S. Marines with Lima Company, Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, run with water jugs during a deck shoot aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2). The Marines grappled and ran between courses of fire to practice shooting with an increased heart rate. MARINE CORPS AIR STATION CHERRY POINT, N.C. - Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Marines annihilate some of their first fuel fires at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., Oct. 16, 2015. The training exercise taught the new Marines to battle the heat and keep pushing until they annihilate the flames, as well as get used to the environment of a real fire.

HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. - Marine Raiders with 1st Marine Raider Battalion practice driving All-Terrain Vehicles during a two-week training exercise called HAVEACE, held at Hurlburt Field, Fla., Feb. 3, 2015. Marine Special Operations Teams use ATVs during training and on deployments as a means of transporting equipment not easily carried over long distances. To operate an ATV, an individual first must be licensed.

PERCEIVING IN THE FACE OF DANGER WITH CALMNESS AND FIRMNESS ::

U.S. Marines and Australian service members move into defensive positions for the night after conducting an amphibious assault at Fog Bay, Australia, July 11, 2015. The Marines with Company E, Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, and Australians with Combat Team Bravo, 2nd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, assaulted the beach and moved inland to secure additional objectives as part of Talisman Sabre 2015. Talisman Sabre is a biennial exercise designed to improve the interoperability between Australian and U.S. forces. LEADERS NEVER TAKE A DAY OFF ::

Recruits carry a barrel over a wall during the 12 Stalls event of the Crucible at Edson Range, Weapons and Field Training Battalion, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif. For every task given, recruits were instructed to avoid the areas of the obstacles painted red. HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. - Marine Raiders with 1st Marine Raider Battalion dangle from a CH-47 Chinook helicopter during Special Patrol Insertion and Extraction rigging training operations, Feb. 6, 2015, near Hurlburt Field, Fla. The SPIE rigging training was part of a two-week HAVEACE exercise, and part of the participating Marine Special Operations Team’s unit training program.
