SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY
Arizona State Parks strongly believes that social media is a tool for consumers and communities to receive updates. We encourage interaction and discussion on any of our posts. We believe firmly that social media must be a safe space for all participants to engage in full and fair dialogue. All posters are encouraged to agree or disagree on any positions on any of our social media outlets. We remind individuals who post, that children, youth and families have access to all of these posts and we want to maximize participation that is free from intimidation or bullying. Name-calling, intimidation or bullying of other social media participants will never be tolerated. Abusive, excessively disruptive and harassing posts will also be considered prohibitive of the fair and safe space we intend to maintain. Posts with unrelated information or political agendas will be removed. We will monitor communications and take appropriate action in order to ensure that these policies are consistently adhered to.

Today marks five years that Darryl Manzer has been a volunteer with Tombstone Courthouse State Historic Park! Darryl is our trusty interpretive living history tour guide on Saturday mornings, typically donning his “Stinkin’ Badge” and a fine vest. If you’re really lucky, Darryl has rang the old Tombstone schoolhouse bell with his cane for you - we can hear it across the museum when he does.
Our team is deeply appreciative of Darryl’s dedication to making Tombstone’s history engaging and informative, for his extra efforts during special events, and for the smiles he brings to our faces and the faces of our visitors.
Thank you for five years of service to Tombstone Courthouse, Darryl!

We want to give a special thank you to Kartchner Caverns State Park Cave Resource Manager Chelsea Ballard for helping us with artifact preservation!
What would a cave scientist know about preservation? A lot, actually! Chelsea recently got our museum set up with devices that will track temperatures and relative humidity in the non-public areas of the museum. These devices are the same or similar to the ones Chelsea and her team at Kartchner Caverns use to track temp and relative humidity in the cave.
The data we collect will help us better navigate the use of our incoming HVAC system to ensure our artifacts are well taken care of for generations to come!
Thank you, Chelsea!!

Can you find the Courthouse in this aerial photo of Tombstone from June 1965?
This photo, TC76-14-02, is one of two aerial photos of town from this time frame in our collection and happens to be the clearer, more defined of the two.

Today marks the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, honoring the culture and contributions of Americans with roots in Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.
We wanted to share one of our accessioned photographs to celebrate the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month. This photo, TC76-01-65, shows two armed revolutionaries, likely Maderistas or Villastas, posing with crossed am******on bandoliers. Their clothing and mu*****ns are similar to those of guerrilla fighters during 1910-1911.

“Storm’s coming up, Ani.”
There’s definitely some stormy weather on the horizon this afternoon but boy if the Courthouse doesn’t look beautiful crowned by eerie clouds.

Headin’ on down to Tombstone for the holiday weekend? Here’s some tips to make the most of your experience at our museum!
💦 No food or drinks except water - help us preserve the historic building for future generations by only bringing water inside and no other food or drink.
🔥Arrive early - there is no air conditioning in the museum and while you may think that living in a “hotter” city means you’ll be ok, indoor temperatures can reach well above 90°F which can be unsafe for any body of any age.
📸 Take pictures - we welcome photos and videos of the museum, especially of interpretive signs you might save to read later so you can make it to the next gunfight show.
🧐 Stay curious - our museum is filled with stories from the past and when you approach them with a sense of curiosity you’re sure to discover something incredible!
We are open 9AM to 3PM today and Labor Day! See y’all soon!
